This little water creature was almost invisibly small… like a red, swimming speck.  I didn’t really see the forked shape until I looked at the photos.

Thanks to frumpytaco for the super-fast ID!  The tiny monster is a calanoid copepod.

I was very excited to find this tiny, almost invisible freshwater shrimp in a pond in Portland.
